My Failure

In Tar Valon I was set upon by an Aes Sedai. At first I worried if she had come to capture me or end my miserable life, but she did neither. She glanced about her and forced me to a side alleyway. I stared into her eyes and knew her for what she was, a Black Ajah.

She instructed me to make my way to the Blight, where I would find an army of Borderlanders. These men were following a fool of a Brother, who had been discovered. I was to retrieve certain materials he possessed.

I traveled for many days through the Mountains of Dhoom to make certain I would be ahead of the army. I finally emerged from the Mountains and entered the Blasted Lands. I struggled for several days with exhaustion and lay in wait for the men. When I finally spotted them I followed them northward.

After my horse collapsed from the barren heat of the Blasted Lands I continued on foot. Struggling at this pace I began to lose their tracks, but finally found myself before a large keep. I was able to track them to the eastern side of this keep and stay undetected for some time before they found my fellow.

The men were accompanied by various others including followers of the Tower, and worse even, men who wielded the True Power. The Borderlanders seemed oblivious to these men and worked on with them. When I believed my brother lost I joined in their fight against him. These simple men thought nothing of my appearance and welcomed my help.

Finally my fellow follower of the Dark was defeated and I quickly sought his remains, yet found nothing. I frantically thought of what the Sister had told me, and remembered Jayden. Perhaps he had beaten me to the letters.

I found him and he was foolish enough to thank me for my assistance. I pulled my dagger from its sheath and quickly stabbed him. My mind must have been quite off as I did not kill him. He lay before me bleeding, yet holding on to life. As I knelt to end him others came upon me. I panicked and fled the scene.

I hid for a few days in the wilds of the Blight while the men prepared to return to the Borderlands. I snuck into their camp to finish what I had started, but found Jayden gone. Only a few stragglers were left to defend their rear. I encountered one as I left and he recognized me for what I was. He attempted to subdue me, but I offered him the precious gems of one of their fallen to him and he let me leave without alarm.

I continued after stealing away a reserve horse down through the Blasted Lands and finally through Tarwin's Gap. Weather worn and barely alive I continued on to Fal Dara, where I hoped I had not yet failed my Lord. The lord of Fal Dara, Agelmar, was holding a welcome to those who returned, and I saw my opportunity.

I entered in to this welcome and sought out Jayden again. Before my knife could end him another of his group saw me and quickly called for help. Agelmar and his guard quickly subdued me and I lay defeated beneath the Fal Dara Keep.

Chained and beaten I lay for some time before another Sister approached me. She gave me some form of Healing and gave me simple gear to finish my mission, but all was for naught. I could do nothing against so many. I was defeated and could go no further. Later I heard word that the Borderlanders defeated the one who truly held this information I was to keep from them.

I now only live to gain the vengeance of this embarrassment. Nothing must stop me, for my life means nothing before the Lords wrath and power. The Lord of Dark shall not be stopped for long, and those who stand against him shall fall to Shadow.
