I have been playing on the trial of Zmud, had bought it a few years back. When I went to use my code thing from where I bought it I discovered that I had used my ex husbands info. So to recover the stuff it will go to his email so no help at all for me. Still have it on my desktop, but I just need a free client that will work with this laptop, its around 8 years old and runnin windows xp.

I was going to sugegst the old zmud 3. whatever version. I think ive gotten it working on a dual-boot in Linux fine. Maybe doesn't work on XP though and not sure worth making your computer boot into linux for mudding.
How about that mudlet - see Barf's post just below. I noticed they have an app to convert cmud scripts into it which could be usefull.

MUSH Client has been reliable for me and is free to download.

if you want to go on the straight and narrow, i suggest either re-buying zMUD OR go with either MUCHclient, or mudlet (those are free)
If you don't mind being on the wicked side, and i hope I'm allowed to post this, but you could always download a 'cracked' version of zMUD and use it.. If you don't know what i mean.... A 'cracked' version is just a program that someone has bought then kind of 'hacked' it of sorts, and placed a 'crack' for others to use, allowing you to use the product with out the need of buying it...
I personally use a cracked version of zMUD 7.21 which is the latest version before they brought out cMUD. but some are against that kind of thing since its outing the company of their money.... It's up to you...

I have extensive scripts for mudlet. Including aliases for stab, charge, kick, attack, and weave targetting. Aliases most of the useful weaves you will ever need. A tabbbed chat/narrate/tells etc window, a tracking script that changes all of the track info from this: there are some recent tracks of barf leaving east. to this:
RECENT of barf >>EAST>> (with colors for recent, very recent, bloody, etc) A door script. I also have a script if you are practiced in 2 skills (like stab and bows) and want to use the same keys for both skills, so it changes the aliases for you.
