Corpse Looting

Is there some sort of policy, informal or not, concerning looting?

This seems to be coming up more and more often. Instead of answering this time and time again, let's put it all in one place and get it out of the way.

General bottom line: You may loot whatever you want from any corpse in the game.

Any exception to this "rule" is subjective and likely to occur in rare circumstances. I can't really think of a time in which this has occurred in the past, but an example I can think of off the top of my head is that of an immortal run event in which an item is loaded that is not intended to be put into circulation. Looting the item will not get you in trouble unless you were warned ahead of time. However, you may be asked(or forced) to return it.

Looting from PvP is legal. It always has been. It always will be. If you lose your gear, then that sucks. But it happens. Complaining about equipment loss over the boards is going to result in the thread being locked and/or deleted. If you have quarrels with someone, take it up with them over personal messages and spare everyone from having to listen to the bickering.

I have to say one of the things that keeps me on this mud and keeps things fun is that fact that I have never had my gear looted, nor have I looted someone that I killed. I've run equipment up to keep for trollocs and had teh same done for me.

Of course you can't make that a rule but I ask that we as a player base try and keep that part of the sportsmanship going. Tonight we had someone on LS get looted, in return that person looted a DS we killed, then it snowballed. I hate that. I know we shouldn't expect it but it's one of the things I like about this mud. It's like everyone respects each other for the most part and we all want to keep pk going. If everyone starts looting we will see less and less pk because there is not enough people playing the mud to smob for lost gear. And you need high end gear to compete.

I think people need to step up and keep the pattern of not looting and returning gear going. Only take a few pieces if you really need it.

I agree, I am ONLY here because I pk. If I get looted and can't pk (or loot and kill pk) then I can't play for a while. I loved how everyone's mindset was before christmas, no one ever looted more than maybe 2-3 trinks, and never weapons, from anyone. Everyone played for fun, which meant that they left eq cause they wanted more pk, qps, they pked to get scalps (and only would loot clan stuff when they were close to mastering), and wps, but people weren't overly touchy about losing/gaining wps (All it is is bragging rights)

I'll tell you folks the exact reason we had mad spam looters, we got an influx of wotmud players and they brought their lame mentality here, it is our job to set them straight on what is and is not cool to do here as we are not wot nor will ever be ( we aren't that gay).

Next time these lame tactics begin to occur we need to nip them in the bud and not reciprocate in kind, yeah I am talking to you Nyoga.

I really like the no loot policy most or all players have here, It is the reason I keep playing. I speak for myself and maybe others..its a sick feeling when you lose it all and have to start over! I am trying to learn pk and it is nice to come back to a full corpse to continue to play and not stress. I don't like to get sick to a point where you wont play, that's why I stopped playing WoTmud. I have made many characters here in the past two months, back when I started. No looting makes the game more fun!

You could just do like i do and jump on a channiie alt, grab a coupla mercs and make spare sets, don't have to worry bout looters then, mattter of fact it's why i started doin it...think i have like 8 spare sets now. Seeing Dump and garrisons are usually fully loaded with high end and mid-tier things re-equin shouldn't be a problem. But yeah, i agree, don't loot me, and i won't loot y9ou.
I've been looted in the past (them damn WoTmudders) and shrugged my shoullders and threw on my spare kit. It's so easy to re-eq i wonder why people keep worrying about it.
