New Players: Connecting to the Game

To all new players:

You will need to find yourself a client in order to log onto the game. If you do not wish to download a client, chances are you can use telnet:

telnet://kinslayermud.org:2222

If this does not work, then you may have a firewall blocking connection to our server. You'll need to ask your parent, administrator, or whoever is in charge of your network about how to fix this. However, the game may also be down. You can check this by doing a ping on the server. The linux command is "ping kinslayermud.org". Windows users will need to go to start->Run, and enter "ping kinslayermud.org" If it times out, then the server is down. If not, the game could still be down, so try to connect with telnet at a later time.

For those who do not enjoy telnet, there are other clients you can download:

WinTin -Apparently Windows Only
ZMud -Popular MUD client, $30.00 one-time cost. Supported by Windows only.

Once you have installed the client, there will be somewhere for you to enter the server or site information. All that is needed is the Server URL/Host: kinslayermud.org, and the port: 2222 . After that, just connect and it should let you log into the game.

That one doesn't work, this one works:

the new inbuilt client always appears as all white. hard to use.

What browser? It should be black background, white font.
